INCLUSIVE PLAYROOMS IN FIVE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Podgorička banka Societe Generale Group joined the campaign 'We are talking about possibilities' and enabled the opening of specially designed inclusive playrooms in five elementary schools in Podgorica.

PODGORICA, 22nd March, 2011 – As part of the campaign ‘We are talking about possibilities’, assistant minister of education and sport, Vesna Vucurovic, PR of Podgorička banka Societe Generale Group, Ms. Sladjana Radović, and Unicef Montenegro representative, Ms. Nola Skinner, held a press conference and opened first inclusive playroom in elementary school 'Stampar Makarije' in Podgorica.

Thanks to the donation of Podgoricka banka Societe Generale Group, for the first time in Montenegro, children with and without disabilities will have the opportunity to play together in stimulative playrooms located in five elementary schools in Podgorica: 'Stampar Makarije', 'Savo Pejanovic', 'Radojica Perovic', 'Vladimir Nazor' and '21. maj'.

These are rooms equipped in a manner to stimulate cognitive, emotional, physical and social development of children. As a result, every day, during their stay in school, the children will have the opportunity, to, through playing in stimulative environment, adopt new skills and acquire new friends.

Minister of education and science, Mr. Slavoljub Stijepovic, warmly welcomes the donation of Podgorička banka Societe Generale Group and points out the significance of opening specially designed playrooms in schools in Podgorica. 'Responsibility to understand, respect and help persons with disabilities should start in early childhood. Ministry of education and sport, through the cooperation with UNICEF and Podgorička banka Societe General Group, allows children with special educational needs to get education in conditions which correspond to their needs, therefore, they can learn, develop new skills and play with their playmates in different ways in these stimulation rooms. The care for children with special educational needs will give its results only if we all join our efforts.'

Chief Executive Officer of Podgoricka banka Societe Generale Group, Branka Pavlovic, gives her sincere support to the campaign 'We are talking about possibilities' and especially, allowing children with disabilities to learn side by side with their peers. 'Supporting inclusion from the earliest age through play and social interaction is very important for its long-term success as well as for reasons of providing to every child the opportunity to develop his/her full potential.'

Unicef Montenegro representative, Nola Skinner, expressed her great pleasure regarding Podgoricka banka Societe Generale Group becoming one of strategic partners of the private sector campaign. 'It is our goal to create an unstoppable coalition of partners which will give its support to the long-term inclusion of children with disabilities into the Montenegrin society.'

On this occasion, the employees of Podgorička banka took their time and dedicated it to the children by organizing a day with drawing and socializing in school, thus giving us all example to be followed.
